Knot of the PictsPendant Pictish art was influenced by Celtic patterns and symbols but still had an entirely discrete style and produced very special designs as e.g. this Knot of the Picts. This pendant was also called "Knot of the Chosen" and consists of three connected, equilateral triangles. According to old belief it represents the Eye of God and evokes the eternal energies of the universe to bestow protection and creative powers upon its wearer. This pendant is made of pewter. The word pewter is probably a variation of the word spelter, a colloquial name for the same metal. Artists and craftsmen used pewter quite early (dinnerware, sculptures, household articles, pewter figures, jewelry) and hence pewter jewelry has a long tradition. Pewter is a popular material for jewelry production, since it is a shiny, soft metal which is very malleable and has a good tarnish resistance. This piece of jewelry can be gilded
